Terms and Conditions

  1. Participant Eligibility: This competition is open only to all SLAS2020 abstract submitters who are 21 years of age or older and excludes employees of SLAS (the 'Promoter') or its subsidiaries and excludes anyone who is connected with the administration of this promotion.

  2. Competition Rules: Entry is twofold: 1) achieving a high score through playing the Captain Abstract Branded Mini-Game, active on the www.slas2020.org website as “Captain Abstract” and 2) validated submission of an abstract for the SLAS2020 International Conference and Exhibition by the time the high game score is achieved. No purchase necessary to enter the competition. You may be charged your standard mobile operator’s Internet rates for the time you are connected through your mobile device. You will be solely responsible for any mobile operator charges or otherwise.

  3. Competition Period: June 1 – September 30, 2019

  4. Winner Selection: The winners are selected based on two qualifying activities: 1) their ranking on the leaderboard AND 2) a submitted abstract. Ranks are determined by the game’s high score. In the event that multiple users obtained the same game score, one name will be chosen randomly. Up to four prizes -- $150 discount off of lowest current full-conference registration rate for SLAS2020 -- may be awarded during the competition:

    • A full-conference registration discount code will be awarded monthly to the high score for each month: June 1-30, July 1-31, August 1-31, September 1-30. If there is no high score or no abstracts are submitted at month end, no prize will be awarded. If there is a tie for high score, one name will be chosen randomly. Only one prize is allowed per user. The prize(s) cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged. There is no cash alternative.
  5. Competition Entries: Multiple entries through multiple accounts will be disqualified at the discretion of SLAS. All game high scores will be cross-checked against the SLAS2020 abstract submission system to verify that a high scorer has also submitted an abstract. No abstract = no prize.

  6. Winners Notification: The winners will be notified via email through the email ID they logged in with for the competition - this is known as the 'winner notification message' and it will be sent within 7 working days after each month’s competition ends, assuming a valid winner is available. Promoter will not be liable for any failure or delay of message delivery by your email platform. If winners provide invalid email addresses or do not provide their email addresses, they will be automatically disqualified and the Promoter reserves the right to award prizes to substitute winners. If no winners qualify, a prize may not be awarded.

  7. Prize Collection: Winners will be provided a discount code and instructions for use during online full-conference registration for SLAS2020 on www.slas2020.org website.

  8. Prize Redemption: After winners have been awarded the prize, it is the responsibility of the award winner to use the prize by way of registering for the SLAS2020 conference using the discount code provided to them.

  9. Winner Verification: The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any Participant and may require such information as it considers reasonably necessary for the purpose of verifying the eligibility of a Participant. Prizes may be withheld, until the Promoter is reasonably satisfied with the eligibility verification.

  10. Prize Substitution: The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value in the event of unavailability due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control.

  11. Winner Disqualification: The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify from the event any entrant suspected of fraud or cheating including, without limitation, through the manipulation of codes, multiple generated entries, or otherwise fraudulently falsifying data or acting fraudulently or dishonestly in the opinion of the Promoter.

  12. The Promoter will not be liable for system failures, network errors, the Captain Abstract Branded Mini-Game being unavailable, hacks on the system or personal phone or application issues.

  13. If there is any dispute about an entry or any other aspect of the competition, this will be decided by the Promoter. The Promoter’s decision is final in every situation (including any not covered by these terms and conditions) and no correspondence will be entered into.

  14. The Promoter may collect personal information from Entrants for the purposes of awarding a prize. Please see the Promoter’s Privacy Policy for more details on how Entrants personal information will be used.

  15. By entering this competition, you agree that the Promoter may use your name, photo and any testimonial you have provided to the Promoter, for promotional purposes, including, without limitation, on its websites, social media, within its newsletters or within promotional emails.

  16. The Promoter reserves the right at its absolute discretion to cancel the competition without prior notice in the event of circumstances arising beyond its control that make it necessary to do so.

  17. Entry to the competition shall constitute your acceptance of these terms and conditions and your agreement to be bound by them. If these terms and conditions are not accepted in full, then you should not enter this competition. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
